Kristen has been a qualified Social Worker for over 20 years and Family Therapist since 2002.
Kristen is the Director of Newport Health & Wellbeing and has an established private practice for over fourteen years now. Kristen is the Founder of Being Held which provides a supportive, therapeutic and educational group program for women and their infants.
Referrals to Kristen can be made by GP's under the Better Access to Mental Health Care, Care in Mind - ATAPS Program (Perinatal, Generic and Suicide Prevention Service) and Non-directive Pregnancy Support Counselling programs. Kristen accepts Group Program Referrals for Being Held - Mother/Infant and Circle of Security Parenting Education. Kristen also accepts referrals from Carers Victoria, Victims Assessment Program, Dept of Veterans Affairs and Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal. Kristen has worked for the Werribee Mercy Mental Health Program in management and senior clinical roles. Kristen recently co-facilitated the Parenting with Feeling Group Program at the Royal Women's Hospital. Kristen has specialist training in Newborn Observation NBO, mother/infant interaction, Circle of Security Parenting Education, Gottman Relationship Counselling, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Radical Exposure Tapping.
Kristen has an interest and expertise in trauma, abuse, grief/loss, major life transitions and the effect of relationship breakdown on mental health.
She is an accredited Clinical Supervisor through Australian Association of Social Workers AASW.
Kristen works at NHW from Monday-Thursday (9am-3pm), and Thursday evening (6-9pm).
