 Background

The Being Held program is a professional and clinically informed program program facilitated by qualified therapists, Kristen Fawcett (Accredited Mental Health Social Worker/Family Therapist) and Julie Hooy (Social Worker).

The adjustment to parenting can be an extremely rewarding and challenging time. Having a baby may trigger personal experiences, emotions and expectations deeply. The program aims to: provide women with the insight, confidence and skills at this critical time in an infants early life and development.

The program offers many modalities, including; experiential learning, didactic teaching, video recordings of mothers and their babies and the opportunity for shared reflection.  Women are asked to complete three written assessments at the commencement of the group and are also invited to participate in a video recording of themselves and their infant at the start of the program. By the end of the program we can share early videos for discussion, debriefing and reflection.
